The 12.12 Project was conceived by Tennessee based film photographer Penny Felts in 2013, during a period where she felt that her photography had become stagnate and predictable. She wanted to challenge and push her creativity in new ways. Already connected to a worldwide pool of instant film photographers, she invited 11 women to participate. The women she selected were photographers whose instant photographs she respected and admired, and The 12.12 Project was formed. Every month each photographer chooses a theme, one that challenges each other, pushes each artist out of their comfort zone, and generates creative photographic responses to powerful thought starters. I am very happy to be part of this extraordinary collective of creative women from all over the world since 2017. These are the photos I created so far for this project.

Das 12.12 Projekt wurde 2013 von der aus Tennessee, USA stammenden Filmfotografin Penny Felts in einer Phase ins Leben gerufen, als sie das Gefühl hatte, dass ihre Fotografie stagnierte und vorhersehbar wurde. Sie wollte sich selbst und ihre Kreativität auf neue Art und Weise herausfordern. Da sie bereits mit einer großen Gemeinschaft weltweiter Sofortbildfotografen vernetzt war, lud sie elf Frauen ein, teilzunehmen. Sie wählte hierfür Fotografinnen aus, die sie respektierte und bewunderte, und das 12.12 Projekt war geboren. Jeden Monat wählt jedes Mitglied ein Thema aus - eines, das jeden in der Gruppe herausfordert, sie aus ihrer Komfortzone holt, und kreative fotografische Ergebnisse auf diese intensiven Denkanstösse liefert. Dies ist eine Auswahl der Bilder, die ich bisher für das Projekt geschaffen habe.

The Ruhr Area is often rather known (and wrongly so) as being grey and dull due to it's industrial history and coal mining heritage. Many former pithead stocks reamaining from this area are now defunct and have been turned into spaces of recreation and art. Through my Polaroid lens, I want to show my home in a different light.

Das Ruhrgebiet wird aufgrund seiner Vergangenheit als Industrie- und Kohleabbauregion fälschlicherweise immer noch oft als grau und öde dargestellt. Viele der mittlerweile stillgelegten Halden wurden in Orte der Erholung und Kunst umgewandelt. Durch die Linse meiner Polaroid-Kamera möchte ich meine Heimat in einem anderen Licht zeigen.
